Environmental Science

Considering environmental problems on a global scale. Become a leader in environmental science to shape the future.

Environmental science is a comprehensive discipline based on natural science but also associated with social science and the humanities. Would you like to think about solving our environmental problems by making the best use of the diverse areas of research, extensive fields, and unique graduate school curriculum provided by the Graduate School of Environmental Science?

The Graduate School of Environmental Science consists of over 100 faculty members from seven research institutes, laboratories, and centers at Hokkaido University. We have established four major divisions of study, including the three basic fields of Earth System Science, Biosphere Science, and Environmental Materials Science, and Environmental Science Development, which integrates the expertise of these three basic fields to work on solving problems. We strive to develop personnel with the specialized skills required to be active in the international community with the goal of solving environmental problems.
