  • In general, annual tuition fee payments are split into two installments, one for each term (due at the end of May and November).
  • Payment can be made via automatic withdrawal from your designated account via bank transfer, or paid using a bank transfer form.
  • Tuition fees must be paid in yen.
  • If tuition fees are revised during a student’s period of enrollment, the new amount will become effective from that point on.
  • Students who fail to pay tuition fees will not be allowed to continue.

Enrollment and Tuition Fee Waiver Program

Hokkaido University has a waiver program for enrollment and tuition fees. This program allows students facing financial difficulty to receive a full or partial exemption from said fees.

Scholarships, Financial Support

Many of the international students who have studied at Hokkaido University so far have received some form of scholarship or other financial support.
A variety of scholarship programs are available, offered by the Japanese government, Hokkaido University, private organizations, and others.

Many scholarships can be applied for before enrollment, so please be sure to check in advance.
Please note that scholarship applications have deadlines. Start gathering information and preparing early to find the scholarship that best suits you.

In addition to scholarships available for application before enrollment, there are also scholarships available to currently enrolled students.
Even if you are unable to secure a scholarship before enrollment, you will still have the chance to apply for and obtain one after enrolling.
